After another epic drive through the heart of America, Colin, Israel, Ben, and I have come back to Saskatchewan. We had lots of truck-related adventures. Izzy and Colin put a new transmission on the truck a few hours before we departed. We let a stranger fill our diesel truck with gasoline in South Dakota, and subsequently spent a whole morning in Norfolk, Nebraska, trying to figure out what was wrong. Then coming home we got rear-ended on the interstate in Oklahoma, but Yahweh truly protected us and the truck was functional enough to bring us back to Canada. I thank the Father for the time with the brethren in Oklahoma, first at Camp Y'shua and the Babbitt's house near Lawton (Melanie, if you read this, we missed seeing you by only an hour or two), and also at the Sukkot camp by Chandler. Now I'm really tired. Four days until I leave for Israel...

Absent I shall be for a few weeks.

Does anyone in the Saskatoon area want to babysit a cute little pitbull terrier for four months?
Then my friend Paul Daniel has an amazing opportunity for you! To find out more, click here.

Thanks to the Creator for a fine Shabbat!
Paul Daniel and I and Sioux the dog went on a pleasant Shabbat canoe trip yesterday. We started in Saskatoon and drifted downriver to the Clarkboro ferry. Once there we decided to keep going another six miles to the home of our friends the McClanahan family. The sun set, and we still weren't at their place, and we weren't even certain that we could identify it from the river. But we saw a light straight ahead, and paddled toward it. As we got to shore a well-marked path loomed ahead, so we climbed the hill, and behold, we were in the McClanahan's yard! Our Father brought us there at the perfect moment. Soon we were in their kitchen, chatting and consuming turkey sandwiches and tea. Then PD's parents came, and we tied the canoe to the van and drove back to Saskatoon. What a day. Perfect weather for canoing. Warm, sunny, and not very windy.

Technology. National Geographic has a live webcam set up at a watering hole in Botswana, Africa. If you have RealPlayer, go see what's happening in that neighborhood right now.

My family saw the new moon month last night. So it's the eighth month. In one week from this moment I'll probably be somewhere in the middle of Nebraska in a little truck, heading south. Izzy, Collie, and I will be singing loudly and eating granola in the cab, and Ben will be sequestered in the box of the truck, fasting and afflicting his soul for Yom Kippur. These two calendars make some interesting situations, even if only imaginary! But yeah, next week the plan is for us make the epic journey to Oklahoma once again. I'm spending a lot of time right now wrapping up loose ends and pre-packing for the trip to Israel in November. I'm doing the Saskatchewan Hunter's Safety course, and it's pretty fun. I got to see our friends Terry and Carmen arrive at the airport last night.

Today: pull beets from the garden
get passport photos
learn the difference between a mule deer and a white-tailed deer
lift weights

I'm scared.
I'm excited.
A new era of my life is beginning.
And in the beginning is Yeshua.
I can trust Yeshua.

Can you spot the Canadian geese?

I went running this morning in a brand new pair of running shoes. I paid a large sum for them, and all I have to show so far is a sore knee and one blister on my foot. But the run was SO GOOD! So Halleluyah! I learned a lot about my feet by shopping for running shoes. My feet are really different from each other. I had my feet diagnosed at two stores, and the staff at both places asked if I had ever broken or injured my ankle. No, I answered. It's a mystery to me why my right foot overpronates so much, and my left doesn't. Maybe that trampoline accident a few years ago?? Hmmm, I hope my body gets accustomed to the new shoes.

I saw the Topping's new son last night. Ezekiel Elioenai Topping. Yah bless him!

Paul Daniel has a few pictures on his blog from the festival of Sukkot. Look.
