i have a question for you do you ever sometimes think scary thoughts like- if faith and religion are things you can choose to believe in, or choose not to, than each person really chooses his reality and builds it in his mind according to what he decides is right and what's not... so there is never really any objective truth out there. (unless you believe or shall we say-" choose to believe" in messorah, meaning: it's true cause we are TOLD so or cause it's written...) and then you tell yourself, well even if i won't ever be able to know 100% in my head that this is the truth, atleast i can FEEL it. cause really, we don't know anything's for sure in this world, and all we have is our souls guiding us and letting us feel if somethings good or not. so we just need to be as connected as we can, cause in the end we don't ever get to know for sure... are you thinking this guys crazy- what the heck is he talking about, or did you ever in your life have those questions?
Scary thoughts. Yes, I definitely have questions like you have described. I am often plagued with doubts. Sometimes I wonder if I can be certain of anything!
But then I remember the one thing I am certain of: Yeshua of Nazareth, the Creator of everything. From a very young age I've known Him; I can feel Him guiding me and teaching me right from wrong. It's a relationship.
V'yadaat et HaShem. And you shall know the LORD.
I don't understand God, and I don't understand this world that He's made, but I know and FEEL Him, and I know He loves me. Knowing Him isn't about feeling emotions or having spiritual experiences to let me know I'm on the right track. It's about His breath keeping everyone alive moment by moment. It's a young man's soul reaching out to his Creator, and finding that He is there, and He is not silent.
that's interesting how what you said connects to the phrase you chose. "veyadata"- da'at is to know, and it's deeper meaning is to CONNECT. (like "veadam yada et chava ishto...")
you've hit the nail on the head, o anonymous. when attacked by the demon of epistemolgy take refuge in the tower of mysticism, when the intellect fails rely on the other types of knowing. As mr. thunderchild might say aya-nuncy (it is very difficult). But that's the promise "to know as we are known no longer as in a poor mirror", the culmination of Hoshea's betrothal verse."Adam know his wife and she concieved" what might we concieve? ahhh . Sorry Joel I go off the deep end when we get on this topic.
We certainly must not cease to "think scary thoughts" unless we want to give up any hope of discovering what is real.
If George Fox could comment right now he might tell us that the Bible (ie. Tanach and New Testament) is not the Word of God. The Word of God is spiritual. To know and connect with the infinite Creator, we have to listen and see with spiritual ears and eyes.
i've been trying to understand how i understand "spirituality". ever since i sat in this class where the teacher was downing the people who mistake it for spiritual experiences and highs, i've been a bit confused. she says those are all created in the human imagination and basicaly aren't real and you mentioned aswell that "to know g-d is not to feel emotions or spiritual experiences" (which could just be illusions of our imaginations)... so how are we supposed to know him without using our imagination, our minds, if he cannot be experienced with our physical senses?
"how are we supposed to know him without using our imagination, our minds, if he cannot be experienced with our physical senses?"
how indeed. we can surely speculate. life is one huge experience, and it's a physical, mental, and spiritual experience. your mind, your imagination, your soul, your physical body, all these are tools for connecting with God. everyone's journey is different. i'm not saying that there's multiple ways that God wants us to obey him, only that he uses different means to connect with every human being. he has a special relationship with everyone.
I died. I DIED! I want the whole world to know that I died. I have been crucified with Messiah and I no longer live, but Messiah lives in me. The life I live in the body I live by faith in the Son of Elohim (God), who loves me and gave himself for me. I am alive today because Yeshua, the Son of Elohim, is alive.

...the "spiritual eyes and ears" you talk about may be illusions we create for ourselves in our minds...
