Well said old boy.
Sharon Johnson, mother of 4. She had an appendectomy.
No, Sharon doesn't have cancer. And she's recovering just fine from her little surgery on the weekend. That's pretty neat that you know her. I'm a friend of the Johnson family, and I live only a few blocks away from them.
Aye, it is a small world. And to make it even smaller, while the other Johnsons were down in the States for Succot, I was celebrating the Hag (feast) in Jerusalem with Yaakov. I was in Israel for two months, but he ended up staying for nine months.
The Johnsons are very nice people, eh. They're unique, even among Canadians. Israel is in Oklahoma right now. I think he's visiting Monte Judah's congregation.
May I ask what your name is? Seeing as we know the same folks and all.
Hi Helena.
I was in Jerusalem for Yom Kippur and the whole week of Sukkot (except for a one day excursion to Sfat with some fellow Canadians). Yaakov and I spent a lot of time with Don Esposito and a group of believers that were touring with him. After Sukkot we toured the country a bit with Michael Rood (of A Rood Awakening fame), and spent some time time in the lovely Galilee and Golan regions. For a few weeks after that we hung around Jerusalem, meeting people and developing some relationships, and walking around the town. Then we went to the tiny village of Ezuz in the Negev for two weeks. We stayed with a wonderful family and helped out with work around their house (and we even rode camels one day!). The Negev was beautiful. Ezuz is only 2 kilometres from the Egyptian border (the Sinai). It was really peaceful and quiet there. After that we returned to Jerusalem, because Terry Fehr was coming to town (you might remember him also). After hanging out in Jerusalem with Terry and Yaakov for a week, it was time for me to fly home. There's the trip in a nutshell.
It was a good experience being in the Land, and I really want to go back soon. I totally encourage you to go! Having experienced seeing the country on my own, and seeing it with a tour group, I'd have to say that there's benefits to both. There's some places that would be really hard to get to unless you're with a group. But on the other hand, travelling on your own, with less of a tight schedule, allows you to experience some things that would be next to impossible in the confines of a group. Either way, you'll be in the Land!
Did I see the Bible? Yes, I did. I have a much clearer understanding of the geography of Israel now.
