Shanah Tovah to the world. A sweet new year ya'll. Yom Teruah came and I found myself unprepared. I wasn't ready. But I'm realizing that it's kind of a practice day for the upcoming feast days. The shofar's blast reminds me that Yom Kippur and Sukkot are coming soon, and it's a life and death matter to be ready for Yom Kippur. Prepare me, Yahweh my father.
I went to the synagogue in town, Congregation Agudas Israel for the Rosh Hashanah morning service. I enjoyed the liturgy, and the excellent shofar blowing by Mr. Scharfstein. And as always I enjoyed David Green's merry smile!
"I have surely heard Ephraim bemoaning himself thus; Thou hast chastised me, and I was chastised, as a bullock unaccustomed to the yoke: turn thou me, and I shall be turned; for thou art Yahweh my God. Surely after that I was turned, I repented; and after that I was instructed, I smote upon my thigh; I was ashamed, yeah, even confounded, because I did bear the reproach of my youth. Is Ephraim my dear son? is he a pleasant child? for since I spake against him, I do earnestly remember him still: therefore my bowels are troubled for him; I will surely have mercy upon him, saith Yahweh." Jer.31:18-20
